Branson welcomes the 'World' http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a.../706080368/1093 Today is the final day of taping in Branson for the popular daytime drama. Juliana Goodwin News-Leader Wearing a white tank top that hugged his chest, Van Hansis walked across the parking lot at Grand Country Square in Branson toward a squealing fan. When Veronica Moretto spotted Hansis — who plays Luke on the CBS daytime drama "As the World Turns" — she hopped up and down like a little kid in need of a bathroom. Moretto was one of about 30 fans watching the crew film a scene for the CBS soap opera. They started shooting at 7:30 a.m. and bystanders were waiting. "This doesn't happen in New York," Hansis said. He enjoys filming on location because "it's a good way to interact with the fans." Today is the last day "As the World Turns" will film in Branson. The public can watch an episode being filmed at the Moon River Theatre with a cameo appearance by Andy Williams, who appears as himself. The doors open at 1 p.m. and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. On Saturday, cast members will sign autographs beginning at 10 a.m at the Grand Country Square in Branson. The episodes filmed in the Ozarks will air July 5, 6, 9 and 10. This is Andy Williams' first soap opera appearance and he said he's looking forward to it. Having a daytime drama filming in Branson will give Branson and the Moon River Theatre national exposure, he said. "I assume it's a completely different audience than we would normally get," Williams said. "People may have a new view of Branson." Jennifer Landon, who plays both Gwen and Cleo, will sing a duet with Williams. "I'll be nervous. I get stage fright when I sing," she said. Landon, daughter of the late actor Michael Landon, is looking forward to the scene because of the energy a live audience can ignite. ![]()
