Copying my recap from VanHansis.net here too: I had a blast at the luncheon, Nuke-a-Palooza and the Post POST After Party. It went on and on. And I managed to meet Marcella in the middle of all that too. Before 12 when we went to our tables, which weren't numbered like they were supposed to be causing mass confusion, we were packed into the side of the ballroom where you could enter raffles and buy pictures. I put most of my raffle tickets in the "get your picture with four stars in SOD" and "SID" buckets. Then scattered a few more in anything Van and Jake related. When we got to our correct tables, we had the typical luncheon food - salad, chicken, some chocolate thing for dessert. Mindi, the fan club President, came out to call raffle numbers. She mentioned Nuke a few times and we erupted. Then every time someone in our group won something, we ERUPTED like it was the greatest thing ever. We were LOUD. It definitely made an impression on everyone. I don't think any of our crew won any of the "big" raffles like the ATWT studio tour or the magazine pictures, but we won a few things. I'll let the winners tell you what they got as I didn't win. Michael Park came out and said something about not having his longtime co-host (Martha) this year but he had a new co-host, Mick Hazen, whose voice changed this week. Michael and Martha work really well together with a lot of back and forth but Mick hardly said anything the entire time. Michael started introducing the cast. There was an emotional moment when Colleen Zenk Pinter was introduced. She spoke about her cancer and said last year at this time she didn't know if she would be around. :+ In the buildup to the Van and Jake introduction, Michael rubbed his belly and talked about how all those Hershey Kisses have not been good for him. Then when Van and Jake came out we jumped up, screamed our heads off and did everything we could to make our presence felt. We also gave big ovations to Kathleen Widdoes (who has never been to a luncheon before) and Liz Hubbard, Billy Magnussen and Tala Ashe. Maybe some others here and there. Not everyone got the same ovation as Van and Jake, including Noelle Beck who I totally forgot about and didn't look for her line later. Once the introductions were finished, the actors were escorted to their autograph tables where we stood in line for autographs. I did the short lines first. I ran to take a quick pic with the girls who had many distractions. Only Ashley was looking. ![]() Then I went to talk to Chaunteé Schuler and Wolé Parks. Wole is leading the AIDS walk for ATWT this year so check out the ATWT team which includes Wole and Tala at http://aidswalknewyork2008.kintera.org/faf...EE&team=2712759 ![]() I had a blast talking with Lauretta Vaughn so is so funny and energetic in person. ![]() We then went to Eileen Fulton's table. Lyle finally got in a picture instead of just being the photographer. ![]() I head over to meet Tala Ashe next. I know she checks out the boards and reads what people are saying so I told her we all can separate the Ameera character from Tala, who is beautiful, sweet and gracious. ![]() Next I went to the end of Van and Jake's line which was the longest. I think I waited for an hour. It seemed like it wasn't moving at first. A lot of our crew was ahead of me in line so I got to see their meetings with Van and Jake first hand. It was so awesome when Andy went up and we all started screaming like banshees. Sage was in front of me in line. Notice her fist pumping as Andy was talking with Van. ![]() When I finally made it to the front, I had Jake sign my "Brunch of the Living Dead' DVD and made a crack about how the movie changed my life, or some such nonsense. Then I gave Van the Dolphin Trainer t-shirt I brought for him, had him sign a picture and Heather's DMD Playbill then had my picture snapped and that was that. ![]() Next I went to Billy Magnussen's line. Billy was a huge hit at the luncheon and had fun with everyone. ![]() I snapped some pictures of Marie Wilson and Jon Prescott while waiting in Dylan Bruce's line. ![]() The woman in front of me told Dylan he was "so tall" which made me laugh. When I got to meet him, I said the same thing. "You are SO tall" which made him laugh since I'm 6'5". So he stood in his chair so he would look taller than me. ![]() At this point, and it was only 3pm, I was pretty much tired of standing in lines! I looked around to see if there were tables with no lines and found only one, Mick Hazen and Meredith Hagner's so I went there. They were both sweet. I told Mick I remembered going through the same growth spurt he is right now. ![]() Somehow I mustered the energy to meet Eric William Morris once his line died down. He was a nice guy. ![]() I took one last picture with Andy before leaving the ballroom. ![]() Andy went back to our hotel while Lyle and I changed and then we met Marcella for a drink and some appetizers. We were all three talking a mile a minute and all about the luncheon, the message board, etc. Poor Lyle had no input on all our craziness. LOL Marcella walked us to Nuke-a-Palooza at Social. I was trying to be cool in a long, white peacoat and orange shirt but the second I walked in I saw Lisa wearing the exact same thing. :wtf It was really funny actually and someone took our picture so I want to see that! We all chatted about our day and waited for Van and Jake to arrive. Ewa da Cruz and Dylan Bruce showed up first. I had no idea they were coming. Then Billy Magnussen and Tala Ashe. Finally Van and Jake arrived to thunderous applause and cheering. It really didn't take much to make us cheer. All six actors were incredibly gracious and friendly and wonderful. I presented Van and Jake with the awesome plaques Theresa made for them. And then I presented Andy with the first ever "Nuke Lifetime Achievement Award". Van and Jake talked to the crowed and I can't remember exactly what was said, but they both appreciated our support so much and realize how important their storyline is to people. After that, we pretty much mingled and talked with each other and the actors. I had a chance to talk to all six of the ATWT actors at some point so it was really nice they attended. ![]() They all stayed pretty much to the end with Van and Jake leaving last. I can't thank them enough for attending and making the evening and whole day so special for everyone. Once we filed out of Social, a group of us headed to Therapy for drinks and dancing. I had a really good time hanging out with everyone. |
